Vin Diesel teases sequel to Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant

THE IRON GIANT was a big box office bomb, grossing only a little over $30 million worldwide against a budget of $70 million, however it received critical acclaim from critics, and many consider it to be one of the best animated movies of all time. Vin Diesel provided the voice of the titular robot in the Brad Bird film, and in a recent post on his Facebook page about The Iron Giant being one of his favorite characters, teased a possible follow-up, saying "Don't be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel."

Now, there's a very good chance Diesel doesn't actually know if Warner Bros. is planning on doing another movie, and is just saying don't be shocked if at some point a follow-up is announced, since it is such a great flick. Although there are more than a few people who would like to see THE IRON GIANT 2 happen, but I'm not one of them. I don't think it would taint the original movie, however I still don't think it's a great idea, even if Brad Bird does return to direct. Do you think a sequel to THE IRON GIANT is in the works?

THE IRON GIANT will return to select theaters this fall.
