Vincent D’Onofrio and Kim Coates to wage Ghost Wars for Syfy

Syfy is continuing their working relationship with Continuum and Van Helsing producer Simon Barry through the acquisition of the Barry-created series Ghost Wars, which is currently filming in Vancouver.

Vincent D'Onofrio, Kim Coates, Avan Jogia, Kristin Lehman, and Meatloaf star in the series. Set in an Alaskan town overrun by paranormal forces, it centers on

local outcast Roman Mercer (Jogia), who must overcome the town’s prejudices and his own personal demons if he’s to harness his repressed psychic powers and save everyone from the mass haunting that’s threatening to destroy them all.

Ghost Wars is being executive produced by Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures, Barry, Dennis Heaton, and David Von Ancken, who is directing the first episode.

Set to run for thirteen episodes, the first season of Ghost Wars will premiere on Syfy in the U.S. and will be available for viewing through Netflix in other countries around the globe.

Barry had this to say about the series:

Ghost Wars is not just a contemporary homage to classic psychological horror, it’s also an opportunity to tell stories about human politics and how we shape our beliefs and lives based on our individual perspectives and biases. Science, humanism, religion and the paranormal all get a seat at the table."

That does sound like Ghost Wars has the potential to be very interesting, which is a bonus when I was already sold at "Vincent D'Onofrio and Kim Coates".
