Vincenzo Natali prepping Splice for June release

Just the other day we told you how Vincenzo Natali’s highly acclaimed film SPLICE would finally be getting a release this June. Well Fangoria caught up with the director to talk about his film’s release! And what did we learn? Check it!

“You’re going to see a slightly nipped-and-tucked version. I’m actually going into the editing room next week, and if they’re true to their word, it’s just going to be cosmetic. It really comes down to Joel. He loves the movie and actually enjoys the parts that would scare most producers away. He’s being very courageous releasing this. There are also a few things I’m changing after seeing the film with an audience. I believe what will come out of it will be a new and improved cut, but in essence, it’ll be the same film.”

Usually edits to a film to prep for a wide release are never a good thing… But dare I say I trust what Natali’s saying? It seems like the changes he’s planning on making won’t hurt the flick much. Actually it seems like the director thinks it’ll improve it. Natch. Natali also talks a bit about how SPLICE ended up at Dark Castle and it’s Sitges/Sundance audiences. Head right over HERE to check that out.

In SPLICE Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley (below) star as two young rebellious scientists, who defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named “Dren”, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly. Stoked? Of course you are! SPLICE is coming at us June 4th!
