The final chapter of Marvel‘s WandaVision trilogy, VisionQuest, got a new, explosive trailer today, teasing the end of the synthezoid’s existential crisis in a limited series that looks strange and cerebral. The all-new series, coming exclusively to Disney+ on October 14, begins with a two-episode premiere, giving fans a double dose of quality Marvel television right out of the gate.
To truly understand the stakes of VisionQuest, one has to look at the broader narrative arc Marvel has built since 2021. This new series serves as the definitive third act in an interconnected trilogy that began with the groundbreaking, Emmy-winning WandaVision and continued through 2024’s critically acclaimed Agatha All Along. Where WandaVision explored grief and magical denial through sitcom homage, and Agatha dove into the dark, witchy fallout of Westview, VisionQuest turns the focus back inward onto the synthezoid himself, examining humanity, identity, and the legacy of Wanda Maximoff’s shattered reality.
“Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
The latest trailer finds the mild-mannered synthezoid searching for answers to burning questions about his identity in a chaotic world. When that journey leads him to a reincarnated version of his estranged son, Vision must rely on the aid of his nemesis, Ultron, to discover the pieces to an impossible puzzle of the heart and mind.
The stellar ensemble cast includes Paul Bettany and James Spader, joined by Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, alongside Emily Hampshire and James D’Arcy.
