Isn’t it wonderful how well horror and summer camp go together? I guess we have the original FRIDAY THE 13TH to thank for first combining the two and thus, paving the way for the likes of THE BURNING, SLEEPAWAY CAMP, BLOODY MURDER, and such. The latest genre piece I’ve just come across is looking join the brigade of blood-drenched cabins and gore-soaked mess halls. It’s called, simply enough, CAMP KILL and its filmmakers do seem to have a nice tongue-in-cheek respect for the horror/camp combo! Check out its synopsis:
Don’t have anything to do this weekend? Why not take a trip to camp (kill). It’s far enough out in the sticks and away from everything that you won’t be bugged with traffic jams, smog or those annoying hot showers. Come on out, rent a cabin and lose yourself (or your life) in the beautiful and (somewhat) peaceful great outdoors. All we ask is that you keep an eye (or two) out for deer ticks and snapping turtles (or the crazy deadly killer who could show up at any moment and chop you to bits). Try to avoid contact with them. They can be dangerous! Enjoy your stay!
Sounds like the kind of scary, campy (pun intended) fun I’m looking for! This CAMP was set up by writer/producer/director Nate Hanley. His cast includes a couple of genre hotties, Scarlet Salem and Rachel Grubb, as well as Landyn Banx, Sarah Ann, Eric Binfet, Tony Czech, Derek Dirlam, Will Duff, Bud Farley, Matt Franta, Breanna Fuss, Matt Hoemke, Jim Jorgensen, Megan Kelly, Lawrence Levesque, and Heather Meyer. CAMP is still in production, but you can find some nice info and pics (like the one below) by visiting the official website here.
