Waiting screenwriter tapped to pen Will Ferrell & Jack Black comedy Tag

A couple of years ago Mark Steilen (THE SETTLEMENT) was attached to write the script for a New Line comedy project called TAG based on the Wall Street Journal article "It Takes Planning, Caution to Avoid Being 'It'", but now Variety has learned that WAITING scribe and director Rob McKittrick has been hired compose the screenplay.

Both Will Ferrell and recent Grammy winner Jack Black are still planning on starring in TAG, and Todd Garner is producing the planned film through his Broken Road banner. TAG will follow "10 classmates from a Spokane, Wash., prep school who, now in their 40s, play an elaborate game of tag for one month every year."

I have a soft spot for WAITING because at the time of its release I had a lot of friends who worked in the restaurant industry, but it is by no means a great movie. TAG certainly has the potential to be a hilarious flick though, and I'm curious to know which actors are being considered to play the other classmates. Who would you like to see join Will Ferrell and Jack Black in a game of tag?

Will Ferrell can be seen next in GET HARD on March 27, 2015, and Jack Black's GOOSEBUMPS is scheduled to be released on October 16, 2015.
