Walking Dead producers bringing preapocalyptic tale Sheltered to big screen

Jesse Peyronel (NBC’s “Dracula”), the filmmaker behind the indie movie SIREN, is teaming up with “The Walking Dead” producers Circle of Confusion to adapt the preapocalyptic Image Comics book SHELTERED, reports THR.

Created by Ed Brisson (Comeback, Secret Avengers) and Johnnie Christmas (Continuum: The War Files), SHELTERED is…

…a preapocalyptic thriller set in a survivalist compound somewhere in the Pacific Northwest and populated by families who believe an imminent volcanic eruption is about to make the U.S. uninhabitable for years. Yet the adults are unprepared for a strike from within in the form of a coup d'etat by the kids, led by a charming sociopathic teen.

What follows is a struggle between two sets of young protagonists that is described as having shades of Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games.

Peyronel is writing the script now with an eye on directing a feature in late 2014.

Circle of Confusion will produce.

Circle is currently developing an adaptation of OUTCAST, an adaptation of the latest Image comic from "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman.
