Walking Dead’s ghoulish PR stunt: Real “zombie attacks” across the globe?

Now this is what I call a promotional push. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC is going gonzo with its PR strategy for “The Walking Dead”, which is already omnipresent in our daily lives. But now it’s taking it to the streets.

The cable network is staging “zombie attacks” in 26 major cities — hundreds of extras in zombie makeup roaming landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., Big Ben in London, The Prado Museum in Madrid.

The stunts will commence at daybreak in Taipei and Hong Kong on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and moves across the globe during a 24 hour period and culminates at the show’s Los Angeles premiere.

Obviously, this is awesome; it’s also sure to elicit panic from at least a handful of lame-brained civilians, which is also awesome. I’m not yet able to pin down which 26 major cities will be included in this zombie-rama, but if I do, I’ll update this story with the whole list, so keep it tuned right here…

UPDATE: You can find a list of the cities being zombified over at AMC.
