Walton Goggins and Chloë Grace Moretz to fight for their lives against contract killers in the action-comedy Mister

After entertaining audiences with his show-stopping roles for Fallout and The White Lotus, Walton Goggins is joining forces with Chloë Grace Moretz (Nimona, The Peripheral, Shadow in the Clouds) for Mister, an upcoming action-comedy from Bright White Light and Thunder Road, the studio behind Keanu Reeves’s John Wick movies. Initially, Josh Brolin was going to lead the cast, but has had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts.

Mister marks the directorial debut of Wade Eastwood, a second unit and action director. In the past, Eastwood has lent his keen eye to such films as Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and Jumanji: The Next Level.

What’s Mister about?

According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Mister “follows a man (Goggins) who wakes up in a strange house covered in blood and comes to realize his true identity while fighting off contract killers from his past — including everyone from his exes to his best friend. To get out, he teams up with his estranged daughter (Moretz) who also has ended up in the family business, but they will need to repair their relationship in order to survive.”

Goggins as a piece of furniture? What?!

While Mister is in pre-production, Walton Goggins is busy lending his talents to the animated sci-fi comedy Harry and the Mutant Mid-Century Furniture. What the hell is that about? According to IMDB: It’s 1962, and radiation from atomic weapons testing has awakened a new species – mid-century furniture. Yeah. I’m as confused as you are. Michael Skolnick directs the feature, with Andy Richter, Matt Walsh, Stephanie Beatriz, Ron Funches, Seth Green, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Lou Ferrigno, Shondrella Avery, Pamela Adlon, and Clare Grant leading the cast.

Love is in the air for Moretz

Meanwhile, Chloë Grace Moretz recently completed her starring role in the upcoming romantic comedy Love Language. Directed and written by Joey Power, Love Language focuses on a social media writer who starts a wedding vow business. However, her world turns upside down when her latest client is engaged to her college crush. Anthony Ramos, Isabel May, Manny Jacinto, Lukas Gage, Billie Lourde, Chloe Fineman, and Daniel Davie Stewart also star.

Mister has a lot of things going for it. Goggins and Moretz are a significant draw, and the concept sounds fun. What’s giving it an extra kick in the pants is that Thunder Road knows a solid action film when they see one. Plus, it’s always interesting to watch someone’s directorial debut. Wade Eastwood could be a tremendous talent in the making, and Mister will be a great chance to see what he can do when he’s at the helm.
