Walton Goggins joins the cast of Maze Runner: The Death Cure

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Walton Goggins is the f**king man. Since first being impressed by his work on The Shield, I've made it a point to follow as much of Walton Goggins career as I could, and you can always count on Goggins to deliver a standout performance. We're beginning to see Walton Goggins in some meatier roles on the big-screen and Deadline reports that the actor has recently signed on to appear in the final installment of Wes Ball's MAZE RUNNER trilogy.

MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE will find Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and the surviving Gladers preparing to face off against WCKD one last time as they fight to find a cure for the deadly disease known as The Flare. Walton Goggins will join them as Lawrence, an "unusual and dangerous character who is part-revolutionary, part-anarchist, and a voice for the voiceless people." As I haven't read the books I can't speak to what sort of character Lawrence is, but with Goggins taking on the role, I know I'll have something to look forward to.

It's been a tough road getting MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE made as Dylan O'Brien sustained some very serious injuries on the set last year. Production was shut down in order to give O'Brien time to recover, but it soon became clear that he would need more time and the entire project was suspended indefinitely. Thankfully Dylan O'Brien eventually made a full recovery and production on THE DEATH CURE resumed earlier this year and is currently finishing up in South Africa. As for Walton Goggins' future, the actor is set to play the villain in Roar Uthaug's TOMB RAIDER opposite Alicia Vikander. The upcoming video-game adaptation will hit theaters on March 16, 2018.

MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE is set for a February 8, 2018 release.
