Despite his untimely death in Avengers: Infinity War, Vision (Paul Bettany) is once again sharing the screen with Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in Marvel's WandaVision on Disney+, and while speaking with Barstool's Lights, Camera, Pod, Bettany dropped a rather…interesting tidbit regarding Vision's first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
According to Paul Bettany, Avengers: Age of Ultron writer/director Joss Whedon really wanted Vision to have a penis in the scene in which the character is first "born," but found little support from anyone else. "I know that Joss Whedon apparently really, really wanted — the rendition of him, when Vision first is born, before he was clothed, he was like ‘he’s got to have a penis,'" Bettany said, "and everyone, Kevin [Feige] and Louis [D’Esposito], I mean everybody was like ‘I don’t know, Joss…I mean…I’m not sure…'" While I doubt that Vision's penis was ever going to be seen front and center in a PG-13 superhero movie, Whedon insisted that Vision had to have a penis and demanded concept art of Vision's endowment. Upon being presented with the fruits of his vision, Bettany said that Whedon admitted, "Yeah, I'm 100% wrong, I don't need to see any of these." You can check out the story from Bettany himself below.
