ZOMBIE STRIPPERS wasn’t exactly a brilliant piece of horror-comedy (read my review HERE) but I admired its flat-out weirdness. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense, and was never really consistent in tone or narrative, but I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on a movie called ZOMBIE STRIPPERS should I? You want some zombie strippers, it gave them to you.
The company behind that masterpiece, Scream HQ, is developing a new web series that sounds like it’s in the same tongue-in-cheek, tits-in-your-face mold – although they’re looking for a little help getting started. That where you come in. Scream HQ is looking for some funding in an effort to meet their $12,000 goal for STAR CHICKS, which is about intergalactic aliens disguised as sexy ladies.
Here’s their pitch, via Kickstarter.com: Times are tough and unless you’re James Cameron the studios aren’t writing checks for movies like they used to. So the unemployed folks that brought you Zombie Strippers! want to hatch some naked alien women while we’re waiting and hoping for someone to let us make another movie.
We came up with the idea for Star Chicks a little over a year ago when someone wanted to hire us to do a sci-fi comedy web series. They got fired right after the project got the green light and we got scrapped. Then a friend of ours suggested we submit the idea to MoFilm’s mobile film festival. Yikes! The deadline was 6 days away! We shot a teaser for $200 in one day (which happened to be one of the 3 rainy days in LA). Long story short… We won best comedy! Then we got sidetracked working on a documentary (we’re not all just about blood and boobs).
The series will be 7 to 10 episodes of about 3 – 5 minutes each. Basically more than a sitcom but less than a movie. Nudity will be implied but don’t worry, you’ll get to see plenty of our sexy stars.

Oh, and here’s the proposed synopsis: The series follows three highly trained shape-shifting aliens who are sent to earth to study the planet for eventual takeover. Since Earth is the only planet in the universe to have women, the Scourge believes the gender to be Earth’s most dangerous life form. The highly trained, buck naked intergalactic agents must infiltrate society and prepare Earth for invasion armed with only a no-limit credit card and an issue of COSMO. Bombarded by strange new emotions and desires, hunted by alien police, the newly minted ladies must decide whether to complete their diabolical mission or to save their new homeworld. And they have to do it all in heels.
