A bit interesting I get to update you on a Steven Soderbergh flick, as I just watched SOLARIS and THE GOOD GERMAN in succession. Kismet?
Anyway, it looks like Soderbergh’s star-studded genre outing CONTAGION, about the outbreak of a deadly virus, will be distributed by Warner Brothers (according to Deadline Hollywood).
As we’ve reported in the last week, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Gwenyth Paltrow will all star in the film, which boasts a $60 million budget and by all accounts a formidable script from Scott Z. Burns (who collaborated with Soderbergh and Damon on THE INFORMANT).
The flick will interweave multiple narratives spanning 4 continents, as a fatal disease quickly spreads across the globe.
Participant Productions will co-finance the project, which looks to commence filming this fall.
Warner Bros. beat out Summit Entertainment, who remained relatively interested in snagging the rights to the film. Greg Jacobs will produce, along with Michael Shamberg and Stacy Sher of Double Feature Films.
So what do ya say folks, you care who distributes the film, or do your concerns rest with how the chemistry between the aforementioned 5 heavyweights will play out? Maybe something else concerns you altogether, that ending to SOLARIS perhaps.
