So much for the arbitration…
Thought to be wrapped in a legal red-tape nightmare, it seems Relativity Media is forging ahead with its reboot of THE CROW. In fact, the studio has gone so far as hiring WATCHMEN scribe Alex Tse to adapt the script. In other words, it’s big fat “F*ck You” to the Weinsteins!
Of course, just last week we heard the lawsuit between TWC and Relativity was heading to arbitration. An outside judge will decide who has the legal rights to distribute the flick globally. Relativity must feel awfully confident they’ll get the ruling they seek…as they seem intent on moving forward as fast as possible. Remember, Bradley Cooper is attached to play a revamped Eric Draven, with 28 WEEKS LATER director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo onboard to helm.
In addition to WATCHMEN, Tse (seen above) wrote and produced the 2004 TV movie SUCKER FREE. He also has something called NINJA SCROLL in pre-production. Whether he’ll work from Nick Cave’s previous CROW script or begin anew, is unclear.
Based on the James O’Barr comic, Cooper will play a rock musician who, while trying to protect his fiancée from ruffians, gets unceremoniously killed. He’ll then be resurrected by a supernatural force before seeking bloody revenge.
