Scott Cooper, the writer/director of the Jeff Bridges pic CRAZY HEART and the upcoming Christian Bale revenge flick OUT OF THE FURNACE has been tapped by Warner Bros. to write and direct THE ROAD HOME as a potential starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio. Interestingly, DiCaprio was originally to star in OUT OF THE FURNACE when it had Ridley Scott attached to direct, but it fell into Cooper’s hands with Bale as the lead. The duo will now finally unite for THE ROAD HOME, of course after DiCaprio is done with his hiatus.

The Road Home is a Depression-era drama that focuses on Creek, a war-scarred rancher on the Central California coast who finds himself entangled in scandal when he is asked to investigate the brutal murder of a local man, a case that local police have swept under the rug.
Cooper’s OUT OF THE FURNACE is set to be released later this year, while DiCaprio can next be seen in Baz Luhrman’s THE GREAT GATSBY on May 10, 2013, and Martin Scorsese‘s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET later in the year.
