We Have a Ghost: David Harbour haunts Anthony Mackie’s family in the trailer for the new Netflix comedy

In the mood for a good haunting but don’t want to be scared? Then, you might want to check out the new trailer for We Have a Ghost. The comedy is a Netflix original starring the streaming service’s Stranger Things star, David Harbour, and Anthony Mackie. The movie looks to have a fun twist on the typical tropes of a family moving into a new home in a new town that knows of rumors of an apparition in said home. Harbour’s spectre is the friendliest ghost outside of Casper and hijinks ensue when he and Mackie’s family start co-existing as local celebrities.

The official Netflix synopsis reads,
“Ernest the ghost, discovered by the homeowner who named him that because the apparation looks like Ernest Borgnine. The homeowner Frank, begins filming his ghost and posting it for the world to see on social media. Ernest becomes a viral sensation. Frank enlists the help of his high school son Kevin to help be a part of a series of dinners held in the house to cash in on the ghost’s popularity. Things take a turn when Ernest and Kevin both go missing and become targets of the CIA.”

The family adventure film is based on a short story written by Geoff Manaugh titled Ernest. Manaugh would also be involved with this film as an executive producer. Temple Hill Entertainment is producing the project. Christopher Landon, whose credits include the Paranormal Activity sequels, Freaky, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and Happy Death Day 2U, has taken on the directing duties, and the trailer sports his plucky humor. Landon also wrote the script along with the original short story writer, Manaugh.

This movie will mark Anthony Mackie’s ninth Netflix original movie; while this becomes Harbour’s fourth original Netflix title. Comedian Tig Notaro also stars as Dr. Leslie Monroe, who is hot on the trail of Ernest and Kevin, the son of Mackie’s Frank, who becomes a friend to Ernest. Rounding out the cast is Erica Rash (Uncle Drew), Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus), Isabella Russo (Crashing), Niles Fitch (This is Us), Steve Coulter (Shotgun Wedding), and Faith Ford (Hope & Faith).

We Have a Ghost will be available on Netflix on February 24.
