Welcome home the beast in the new trailer for A&E’s Damien TV series

Television shows have dealt with less than reputable protagonists before, but it's not every day that your "hero" is the Antichrist himself. A&E's upcoming series based upon THE OMEN will feature just that, with Bradley James (Merlin) stepping into the role of a now grown-up Damien Thorn who must come to terms with his true identity. There once was a time when the thought of translating a beloved film to television was a reprehensible act, but recent shows like Hannibal, Fargo, and even Bates Motel prove that it can be done, and done well at that. I suppose time will tell if Damien will be counted among the shows I just mentioned, but I believe that Damien definitely has enough potential to get me to tune in.

A new trailer for the series has been released which shows off a little more about what we can expect, including a lot of callbacks to the 1976 film. Check it out!

A synopsis for A&E's Damien:

“Damien” follows the adult life of Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the 1976 motion picture who has grown up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist. Barbara Hershey stars as Ann Rutledge, the world’s most powerful woman who has been tasked with making sure Damien fulfills his destiny. Omid Abtahi portrays Amani Golkar, a close colleague of Damien’s whose fierce loyalty will be tested when he realizes who his brother-in-arms actually is. Meganlyn Echikunwoke plays Simone Baptiste, a woman whose life is thrown into turmoil when tragedy unexpectedly strikes.

Damien will debut on A&E on March 7, 2016.
