Werewolf biker movie Howlers lands distribution, comic book in the works

Writer/director Josh Ridgway's movie HOWLERS is a project we've been keeping a close eye on over the last couple of years, and who could blame us? It's a movie about werewolf bikers. That sort of thing demands attention!

Now some great news has broken out of Cannes: Archstone Distribution has acquired the worldwide rights to HOWLERS and are planning to release the film this fall, sometime around Halloween.

Described as "WYATT EARP meets BLADE… if it was cranked through a 1980s meat grinder of John Carpenter-esque camp and gore", HOWLERS tells the story of

a mysterious monster hunter from the old west who returns from the grave to stop a bloodthirsty werewolf motorcycle gang from terrorizing a small town.

Chad Michael Collins stars as the monster hunter and is joined in the cast by Sean Patrick Flanery, Matthew Tompkins, and Chelsea Edmundson.

Ridgway and Collins also produced the film with Rishi Chitkara, Larry Lemaster, and Chad Law.

While we wait to hear a specific release date for HOWLERS and to see the marketing materials, Ridgway and Collins are teaming with comic book writer/creator David Booher to craft a HOWLERS comic book that will dive into the history of the gunslinger Colt and the universe the film is set in. The trio are currently seeking a publisher home for what they promise will be a "super-fun extension of the film".

I can't wait to check out HOWLERS and finally get the chance to see these werewolf bikers and their cowboy enemy in action. The idea of their story continuing in the pages of a comic book is also pretty cool, so hopefully a deal will be made with a publisher soon.
