Westworld has added several new cast members for its second season

The first season of the HBO series Westworld ended on a cliffhanger, and the fates of some of its characters remain a mystery. Aside from season one cast members Louis Herthum and Talulah Riley, who have been confirmed to be series regulars in the show's second season, the network isn't saying which actors will be returning – although footage shown at the San Diego Comic-Con featured Jeffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, and Ed Harris.

While HBO wants you to wonder who will be back, they have been busy announcing new cast members.

Joining Westworld as series regulars are: Katja Herbers (pictured above) as Grace, "a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour"; Gustaf Skarsgård as Karl Strand, "a white-collar guy comfortable in the field"; and Fares Fares as tech expert Antoine Costa.

In recurring roles, the show has added Jonathan Tucker as military officer Major Craddock; Neil Jackson as Nicholas, "a charming and resourceful man who finds himself in uncharted territory"; and Betty Gabriel as Maling, "who is trying to restore order on the ground."

Inspired by the 1973 Michael Crichton film WESTWORLD, this take on the material is

a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

Wright, Wood, Marsden, Newton, and Harris co-starred in the first season with Anthony Hopkins, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth, and Clifton Collins Jr.

Like most television shows do, the first season of Westworld slipped past me, but I do intend to watch this series eventually.
