Whannell’s new Breed

Leigh Whannell is one successful mofo, as a little movie he and his buddy put together known as SAW has created a new Halloween tradition and franchise that the horror community really hadn’t seen since SCREAM, and even that didn’t last this long. He’s also gonna bust out later this summer alongside Kevin Bacon in Wan’s DEATH SENTENCE, which looks like it’s gonna kick all sorts of ass.

So what’s a successful Hollywood player like Whannell to do? Go to Australia for his next movie, that’s what! According to this Aussie news site, Whannell will be starring in the upcoming horror flick DYING BREED in Tasmania (!), and yeah… the flick is sounding pretty cool. Check it:

Dying Breed tells the story of four people conducting field research into the Tasmanian tiger who stumble across the descendants of a cannibal tribe.

Nice! Directed by Jody Dwyer and co-starring Nathan Phillips, Melanie Valejo and Mirrah Foulkes, the flick is gearing up to start filming in Melbourne and Cradle Mountain. With a whopping budget of $3M, this little indie flick will likely be successful with Whannell on board, as it doesn’t seem like this guy will just ‘do anything’. He can afford to be picky, so lets hope for yet another kick ass ride with this BREED!
