What did you think of…Fantastic Four?

Well, well, well. It's finally here. After the many storms of controversy, from concept, cast, race, filmmakers, studio, etc. the latest franchise reboot of FANTASTIC FOUR has arrived, ready for judgment from the onslaught of rabid fans and regular moviegoers alike. Director Josh Trank's take (on second thought…) on Marvel's first family, starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell has been run through the press gauntlet from day one and even after some promising trailers the film couldn't seem to catch a break. Now comes the hardest part, which is when box office proves whether or not it's a flop, regardless of critical opinions.

After a never-released version of the classic characters from Roger Corman was finished in 1994 (read our Awfully Good feature on it here), the superhero quartet was given the big-screen treatment with director Tim Story in 2005 with FANTASTIC FOUR and then with it's sequel in 2007, FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, neither of which left much of an impression. This latest installment, branded largely as an origin film, has fared even worse on the critical scale, currently sitting at a rotten score on RT and kicking up lots of hate dust on the interwebs. Our own Chris Bumbray was not impressed with what he saw, giving the film a 3/10 and saying it's "…like a generic TV pilot for a show you wouldn’t want to watch."
