OUR PICKS FOR February 18th – 24th

Wanna watch something….for fans of surreal comedy and home improvement?

AT HOME WITH AMY SEDARIS (Premieres February 19th on truTV) – Those of you who remember Comedy Central's brilliant Strangers with Candy already know that Amy Sedaris is hilarious. Her current show is a cross between a sketch comedy show and a home improvement reality series seen through the lens of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Insane with a ton of guest stars, this is one to watch.

Wanna watch something….entering it's "52nd" season?

DOCUMENTARY NOW! (Premieres February 20th on IFC) – The brilliant work of Fred Armisen and Bill Hader expands past the two to include a ton of famous faces including Cate Blanchett, Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton and many more for the "52nd" season of the PBS spoof. You really don't need to know any more and should set your DVR to record this now.

Wanna watch something….where Sean Bean doesn't die?

THE OATH (Premieres February 21st on Crackle)Ryan Kwanten leads this drama that treats gangs like secret societies. Honestly, I didn't even know about this show but saw that the second season was premiering and that Sean Bean somehow survived an entire run of episodes. That boggles my mind and I am instantly intrigued that he made it to another season of a drama. That alone makes this worth checking out.

Wanna watch something….with road trips and improvisation?

PADDLETON (Premieres February 22nd on Netflix) – The output from Mark Duplass is staggering. It seems that between his various shows and films, Duplass never stops working. This new movie is almost entirely improvised and the trailer above gives the hint that it could be very funny as well as dramatic. Like Duplass best work, this is going to be an acquired taste, but one I am interested to try.

Wanna watch something….with Maggie from THE WALKING DEAD as a sexy spy?

WHISKEY CAVALIER (Airs February 24th on ABC) – If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, you know that Lauren Cohan's final appearances were up in the air as she negotiated if she was going to return or not. Having already committed to this spy drama, Cohan seemed to have made her decision. Is her role on this series worth giving up tenure on AMC's zombie drama? We will find out this week.

Wanna watch something….crowning the best films the Oscars didn't nominate?

34TH INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS (Premieres February 23rd on IFC) – So many amazing performances were snubbed at the Oscar's this year but that doesn't mean they won't be recognized. Hosted by Aubrey Plaza, the Independent Spirit Awards often get right what the Academy Awards do not. Tune in to see if your favorites get to take home some trophies.

Wanna watch something….like Scandal but with Anna Paquin?

FLACK (Premieres February 21st on Pop) – If you were a fan of Anna Paquin's nudity on True Blood, this show is not for you. What you will get is a comedy-drama about fixers who address scandals befalling the rich and famous. Of course, Paquin's character has her own problems, too. This is like Ray Donovan but without the violence. If that is your cup of tea, check it out.

Wanna watch something….crowning the best films of the year?

91ST ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS (Premieres February 24th on ABC) – The drama surrounding this year's ceremony has overshadowed the contenders. Many of you trash talk the awards season, but seeing the industry recognize the best movies of the year is still fun. If you don't like it, so be it, but you can still enjoy seeing BLACK PANTHER get nominated even if it doesn't win.
