Yesterday, we told you about Warner Bros. and Joel Silver purchasing the rights to a non-Joss Whedon penned WONDER WOMAN script and, at the time, their official reason for doing so was to take the script off the market so as to avoid any legal hassles when the Whedon-penned script went into production. It’s not that Whedon was off the project, it’s that there may have been some similarities between the scripts and buying it now would avoid legal entanglements later. Today, however, Whedon announced that he is, in fact, off the project. He relates: “You (hopefully) heard it here first: I’m no longer slated to make Wonder Woman. What? But how? My chest… so tight! Okay, stay calm and I’ll explain as best I can. It’s pretty complicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.” He goes on to say that it was an amicable split with the studio with Silver being nice enough to let Whedon keep his limbs for not delivering a satisfactory script, even after he mentioned strong words of encouragement that went a little like “listen, you floppy-haired platypus, you write what I tell you to right and maybe I won’t cut you in half and feed you to alligators!” As for who Whedon had in mind to play the Amazonian Princess?
