When does They Will Kill You hit digital?

For the most part, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have had a charmed run at the box office when it comes to horror movies. Even this weekend’s poorly reviewed offering, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, did solid business, earning $13.5 million domestically. However, their well-reviewed devil-cult action-horror hybrid, They Will Kill You (directed by Kirill Sokolov), was a notable underperformer when it opened last month, topping out at just $10 million domestic.

When is They Will Kill You coming to digital?

Audiences who missed it in theaters won’t have to wait much longer. They Will Kill You arrives on digital platforms on April 28th.

There’s no word yet on its HBO Max premiere date.

What is They Will Kill You about?

The film stars Zazie Beetz as a young woman who takes a job as a housekeeper in a New York high-rise with a dark secret—it’s home to a cult of devil worshippers who plan to use her as a human sacrifice to maintain their immortality. However, she has a secret of her own, as she’s actually infiltrating the building on a rescue mission she devised herself.

Patricia Arquette and Heather Graham co-star.

Why did They Will Kill You flop?

I actually really enjoyed They Will Kill You when I saw it at SXSW, so its poor box office performance was surprising. Likely, it suffered from unfortunate timing, opening too close to the similarly themed Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which also premiered at SXSW just days earlier.

4K Blu-ray release date and special features

If you’d rather wait for physical media, the 4K Blu-ray is set for a June 30th release.

Here are the special features (via Bloody Disgusting):

  • Director’s Log: The Making of They Will Kill You
  • Developing the Virgil Featurette
  • Asia Reaves’ Attacks Featurette
  • Crafting Carnage Featurette

Now that They Will Kill You is heading to digital, will you be checking it out, or waiting for HBO Max? Let us know in the comments.
