Which four directors are on the shortlist for Masters of the Universe?

I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea of making a live-action He-Man flick. Sure, they did it back in 1987, but that’s not saying much. It was the 80s. That said, is this a film that will ever transfer well?

I could definitely see an awesomely updated animated version making waves. There’s tons of great fan art on the web to support that theory. Regardless, they’ve decided to go with a more intense, probably “edgier” version for the big screens.

The biggest issue with production right now is finding a director for MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Jon M. Chu dropped out leaving the studio to search for someone else. Now it looks like there are four directors on the shortlist:

Jeff Wadlow (KICK-ASS 2), Harald Zwart (THE KARATE KID reboot), Chris McKay (editor on THE LEGO MOVIE) and Mike Cahill (ANOTHER EARTH)

Out of the four who is the best choice? Hrmmmm, Cahill. I’m in the minority when it comes to my opinion on KICK-ASS 2. I actually enjoyed it. Wadlow did a nice job. He could be a decent fit for it as well.

There was a more impressive shortlist last month that included the likes of Joe Cornish and Rian Johnson.

I’m just going to keep lobbying for a new animated version. Anyone with me?
