White Bird trailer: Helen Mirren teaches a valuable lesson about tolerance in an emotional and harrowing new film

The next story in R.J. Palacio‘s Wonder saga is here, and if this trailer doesn’t move you, are you even human? Palacio’s Wonder inspired millions of readers to “choose kind” over cruelty. Lionsgate’s White Bird trailer reminds audiences to embrace kindness and learn to tolerate others regardless of heredity or station.

Marc Forster (Christopher Robin, Finding Neverland) directs from Mark Bomback’s screenplay, which is based on the book by R.J. Palacio. In the White Bird trailer, kindness has the power to save lives. The story revolves around Wonder’s Julian Albans (Bryce Gheisar), Auggie’s antagonizing classmate who “left” Beecher Prep. In the film, Julian visits his Grandmère (Helen Mirren) from Paris and becomes transformed by her remarkable and unforgettable story of compassion and courage.

As a girl in Nazi-occupied France, the young Grandmère goes into hiding with the help of a schoolmate, a young man who risks everything to give her a chance to survive. Together, they find beauty and love in the secret world of their creation.

Prepare to bring on the waterworks, eh? White Bird stars Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, Bryce Gheisar with Gillian Anderson, and Helen Mirren. As you can see from Lionsgate’s White Bird trailer, the film presents an emotional story about how empathy for others can make every difference in the world, even in the most harrowing circumstances.

The first film in Lionsgate’s Wonder saga, Wonder, earned $306M worldwide. Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters the fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. August’s experience in a new school goes poorly, as peers and faculty misunderstand the young man’s condition and judge him for things beyond his control. August perseveres, but not before cruelty takes its toll. Jacob Tremblay stars alongside Owen Wilson, Izabela Vidovic, Julia Roberts, Mandy Patinkin, Noah Jupe, and Bryce Gheisar in his first time playing the bully Julian.
