Some exciting news related to Oliver Stone‘s next film project is taking shape, with word that Michael Douglas, Willem Dafoe, Ellen Barkin, Homer Gere, and Yvonne Chapman will join Josh Hartnett and Leila George as lead cast members of the filmmaker’s next drama, White Lies.
The film, written and directed by Stone, is a return to form for the storied director after several years of helming documentaries, miniseries, and made-for-TV movies. According to Deadline, White Lies depicts an “intimate and provocative drama that explores family, loss, pain and uncovers how love can change shape during our lifetimes.”
“The cast was a delight from beginning to end. And the Italian crew was the warmest I ever worked with. I’m profoundly grateful for this opportunity,” said Stone.
What’s White Lies about?
“Told across three generations, the film follows Jack Freeman (Hartnett), a child of divorce now repeating his parents’ mistakes in his own marriage and with his own children,” says the film’s description. “Feeling trapped, he embarks on a lust-filled journey to escape—only to find himself more lost than before. When he meets a woman, whose life is the opposite of his own, he begins an unexpected journey on the path of rediscovery.”
Fernando Sulichin, Maximilien Arvelaiz, and Jordan Gertner produce via Sulichin’s New Element Media, with Tarak Ben Ammar and Gianluca Leurini of Eagle Pictures partnering with James Packer and Jose Luis Manzano as executive producers.
Sulchin comments on White Lies
“We are immensely proud of what Oliver, his cast and crew have accomplished,” said Sulichin. “It was thrilling to reunite Oliver with Willem and Michael, two extraordinary actors who starred in his iconic films Platoon and Wall Street respectively, and to see him work with Ellen, whom he has known and admired for many years. It has also been a joy to see Oliver work with the amazingly talented Homer and Yvonne for the first time. We look forward to bringing this film to audiences worldwide.”
