Why War Why?

I clearly haven’t been a big fan of the choice to remake WAR OF THE WORLDS, no matter who the creative team behind it is, but part of that comes from not being sure why somebody like Spielberg would bother. Well thanks to the nice people over at Yahoo Movies we’ve got some clips of Spielberg and Cruise talking about what the movie means for them.

You can check out the clips “I Always Had ‘War of the Worlds’ in Mind” which talks about Spielberg’s reasons for the reimagining, and also “My Heart Was Pounding” in which Cruise continues to showcase himself as a relentlessly cheerful Scientologist.

Neither of these clips does much to change my opinion of the project, but at least they’re talking directly to the fans, and I give major props for that.
