Ah, the comedy of ghost stories. Why ghost stories, out of all the possible horror angles there could be, always get the comedy treatment is beyond me, but it happens all the time (from GHOST DAD to JUST LIKE HEAVEN), and it’s happening right now, with Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear in David Koepp’s GHOST TOWN.
learned that Kristen Wiig landed a role in the upcoming ghost story, which is about
Wiig will be play the surgeon who essentially ‘flips the switch’ for Gervais here to see dead people. While I’m not generally a huge fan of these ghost comedies, I must say that Wiig is flippin’ hilarious, and if her role in KNOCKED UP is anything of measure, she’ll be funny here as well.
Another saving grace for this project is that Koepp is behind the flick- the same dude who wrote and directed STIR OF ECHOES and among others (SPIDER-MAN and to name a few), so the potential for GHOST TOWN to turn out better than JUST LIKE HEAVEN (and maybe more along the lines of THE FRIGHTENERS) is totally there. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Stick around for more on GHOST TOWN as we hear it!
