Robert Duvall has been attached to star in Terry Gilliam's THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE for a long time, but the director may have found a new lead for his forever in development project.
John Hurt was at the Derby Film Festival this weekend, and apparently revealed Terry Gilliam "has asked John to star as Don Quixote in the long-delayed, oft-cancelled film of the same name, and hopes to start filming this year." Just because Gilliam has asked Hurt about appearing in the film doesn't mean he will though, and it certainly doesn't mean THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE will definitely be made. But Variety has also learned the director and producer Adrian Guerra have started casting on the film, and Guerra says the plan is to start shooting in Spain by early 2015.
For those of you unaware of Terry Gilliam's troubled DON QUIXOTE project, the film would follow "An advertising executive who jumps back and forth in time between 21st century London and 17th century La Mancha, where Don Quixote mistakes him for Sancho Panza." This will probably be Gilliam's final attempt at filming THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE, and I really do hope he finally gets to start (and finish) production on his planned movie.
We also don't know when Terry Gilliam's THE ZERO THEOREM starring Christoph Waltz will be hitting theaters because it still doesn't have a North America release date. C'mon universe, stop f*cking with Terry Gilliam!
