Will Smith as Nemo?

Just last week it was reported that McG had signed on to direct a big-budget 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA remake for Disney. Despite claims that the new TERMINATOR movie is the first part of a new trilogy, 20,000 LEAGUES seems like a top priority for McG. Latino Review caught up with the director recently and got him talking about the film and without much prodding, he revealed who he wants to star. Yeah it’s Mr. Hell Naww! himself Will Smith. Says McG:

“Man I’m trying to get Will Smith to do it, been trying to get a hold of him. I’ve been wanting to work with him for a long time already. That guy’s great!”

I’m not entirely sure how this would work considering that the Nemo most of us know is of Indian (or at least Middle Eastern) descent. I’m guessing McG is putting his own spin on the classic Jules Verne tale and isn’t sticking too close to established works. Of course we should remember that McG hasn’t even talked to Will Smith yet so we shouldn’t get ourselves all freaked just yet.
