Will Smith contemplating third Men in Black, City that Sailed

Proving there really is potentially a third MEN IN BLACK movie coming our way, Variety reports that Will Smith is pondering his next movie, and one of them is indeed MiB III, which is being written by Etan Cohen (TROPIC THUNDER). Honestly, I thought the appeal of a third one died long ago, right around the time the second movie came out and stunk the joint up. But, it made over $400 million worldwide, so of course all the appeal lies with how much bank it can make. Josh Brolin’s name has been connected to the flick, but I’ve got to imagine they’d want someone totally dreamy like Taylor Lautner or Shia LaBeouf partnered with Smith. You know, for the hip teens…

The other project Smith is considering sounds more interesting, but way out of our genre. Called THE CITY THAT SAILED, it’s written by THE TRUMAN SHOW scribe Andrew Niccol, and revolves around a New York street magician who is unhappily separated from his young daughter. The girl, who moves to London, finds magic candles that make her wishes comes true, with unintended consequences: The island of Manhattan separates from the continent and floats toward England, bringing her dad ever closer.

Kiddie stuff, of course, but there are some awesome visuals within that concept. Don’t know exactly how they’d pull it off, but to be frank, I’d be more interested to see that than another stale MEN IN BLACK.

(Let’s not forget that Smith is also circling that dastardly SUSPICION remake…)
