William Katt directing remake of 60s cult classic Horror at Party Beach

Star of yesteryear William Katt and the 1964 goof THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH: Two weird tastes that go even weirder together. In a bizarre bit of news, Fangoria is reporting that the former “Greatest American Hero” star is helming an updated version of Del Tenney’s cheesefest that’s perhaps more notable for being lampooned on “Mystery Science Theater 3000” than anything else.

In a brief interview with Fango, Katt describes his vision for the update: “One of the things we’re doing here to pay homage to the original is, these kids are throwing a ’60s-themed party on the beach, and everybody is dressed in that style. They’re modern kids who are fans of that era, and having fun with it, but they’re getting killed at the same time.”

I don’t know about you, but I think this has a shot at being even goofier than the original. Especially if they don’t change a thing about the monsters, which are – if I recall correctly – dead pirates brought back to life via spilled chemicals. Or something brilliant like that.
