Willy’s Wonderland prequel comic book to be published in October

G.O. Parsons, screenwriter of the "Nicolas Cage vs. evil animatronics" movie Willy's Wonderland (watch it HERE) has announced that a comic book prequel to the movie is going to be released this October, just in time for Halloween! Parsons also shared a look at a variant cover for the comic book, which is being published by American Mythology Productions.

Directed by Kevin Lewis, Willy's Wonderland wasn't quite as awesome as I hoped it would be, but I still enjoyed it. The deeply weird film starred Cage, in a silent performance, as

a drifter who is tricked into a janitorial job at the now condemned Willy's Wonderland. The mundane tasks suddenly become an all-out fight for survival against wave after wave of demonic animatronics. Fists fly, kicks land, titans clash — and only one side will make it out alive.

It could have been better, but watching a silent Nic Cage chug down something called Punch Pop to fuel his battles with animatronic monsters is a fine way to kill time.

Cage's co-stars include Emily Tosta, Beth Grant, Ric Reitz, and Chris Warner.

Parsons didn't reveal what the Willy's Wonderland comic book prequel would be about, but the film does establish an interesting back story about a group of killers and cannibals who used to prey on families at the Willy's Wonderland restaurant, which was something along the lines of a Chuck E. Cheese. Chances are that we'll be an expanded telling of that history in the pages of the comic book.

We'll let you know when more information on this project is made available.
