Wizards!, Pete Davidson, Naomi Scott, A24

It might be time to pay a visit to your local dispensary in honor of today’s news. Pete Davidson, Franz Rogowski, Naomi Scott, and Sean Harris have joined the cast of Wizards!, a new film from Australian writer-director David Michôd. The project reunites A24 and Plan B Entertainment and boasts a script written by Joel Edgerton and Michôd.

According to Deadline, the plot of Wizards! follows two hapless pothead beach-bar operators (Davidson and Rogowski) who run into trouble when they stumble across stolen loot that they really should have just left alone. Wizards! is the fourth collaboration between A24 and Plan B Entertainment after films like Moonlight, Minari, and The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B will produce as part of a partnership with Liz Watts.

Davidson is everywhere these days, from television to film and more. He recently wrapped up another season on Saturday Night Live and stars in A24’s new horror film Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. His semi-autobiographical series Bupkis was also given the green light at Peacock.

Naomi Scott is also busy with projects ranging from film to television and podcasts. She voiced the character Lydia for the Soft Voice podcast in 2021, then went on to play Olivia Lytton in the TV mini-series Anatomy of a Scandal. She recently completed work on Josh Gordon and Will Speck’s Distant and is set to reprise her role as Jasmine for Disney’s live-action sequel to Aladdin. Mena Massoud is also reprising his role as Aladdin for the planned sequel, though whether Will Smith will return as the Genie remains a mystery.

What do you think about Pete Davidson starring in another stoner film like Wizards? What do you think his character stumbles across while working as a beach-bar operator? Jewels? Body parts? Drugs? What if it’s all three? I’ll be interested to find out when Wizards! drops an official trailer.
