I never thought I’d live to see the day, but Greg McLean’s ROGUE is actually out on DVD now, after almost 2 years of being neither here nor there. Word has been it’s a quality monster flick, but I haven’t had the chance to check it out yet (stupid Netflix). McLean is now ready to do another film, and it just might be WOLF CREEK 2. The Aussie director talked to Moviehole about the possibility, and here’s what he had to say:
As for “Wolf Creek 2,” I don’t know. I’d like to see what else Mick is up to in the outback for sure – just not sure anyone else in the world does. Plus you’ve got to top the first one – and seriously, how much horror can you handle? If I did make “Wolf Creek 2” it would almost have to be unreleasable. Rated XXX. Banned all over the world. Never to be screened in public. That’s kind of intriguing.
McLean goes on to say that he has about 4 projects in various stages of development at the moment (a BMX BANDITS remake?), so don’t buy a ticket for the latest adventure of Mick just yet… Not sure where I stand on it. For me, WOLF CREEK is more notable for its cruelty than its technique. It’s an okay movie that’s memorable for how grotesquely pessimistic it ends up being. I know it has its fans though, so people just might be down for more mayhem in the Outback… Just no more heads on sticks, eh?
