Those of you who’ve seen Greg McLean’s WOLF CREEK know it’s a nasty piece of work; a brutal, uncompromising horror film that, while not necessarily a classic, certainly stands among the more disturbing films in the last decade. (At least for me; I find the third act of that flick to be truly f*cked up.) While it’s completely good on its own, the way it ends does beckon for a sequel, and it appears as though we’re getting one.
Via Frightfest’s Alan Jones’ twitter page comes the news that WOLF CREEK 2 is being actively developed. For those who will poo-poo the idea, it should come as good news that McLean is once again on board. Not only that, but bad, bad Mick Taylor – the jolly cretin played by John Jarratt in the first film – is coming back for more. That’s only natural though; don’t know how you could possibly do a follow-up without him.
At the moment, no further deets are offering themselves. I’m glad to see McLean back in the saddle – he hasn’t directed a feature since 2007’s troubled ROGUE, which was okay but not nearly as intense or memorable as WOLF CREEK. Let’s hope he takes it to the next level with WOLF CREEK 2…
