After the modest effort from DOOM on the big screen, you’d think id Software would wait a while before unleashing one of its franchises to make the jump again. Well, wrong.
According to an interview on Twitch Guru with id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead, the next classic id franchise to make the transition is…WOLFENSTEIN. Yes, WOLFENSTEIN. DOOM’s grandaddy and the first PC game to have parents up in arms is stepping up to the plate, according to Hollenshead. “Our next order of business is to try to get Wolfenstein made into a movie; I think it could make a very interesting film. The game design for Return to Castle Wolfenstein is basically set up as a film script. Where we’d go from a movie standpoint would be to incorporate a lot of the elements from Return to Castle Wolfenstein along with what we’re going to be doing in the next Wolfenstein game that we announced a few weeks ago. It will probably have a little more similarity in terms of the direction of the movie script to the upcoming game.”
Wow, so B.J. Blazkowicz is set to blow away Nazis not only in a movie but in another game? Stay tuned for more on this one. In the meantime, I’m hankerin’ for some Enemy Territory…
