Holy Christ, the THE WOLFMAN is beginning to resemble Frankenstein’s Monster.
A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Danny Elfman’s score was being replaced, and composer Paul Halsinger (CRANK) would be taking over. Now, thanks to a tidbit in Variety (via Dark Horizons), we learn that it’s being re-edited. Mark Goldblatt (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) and legendary editor Walter Murch (APOCALYPSE NOW, THE ENGLISH PATIENT) were brought on earlier this month to tinker with the Joe Johnston flick, which has been tinkered with so much (and so publicly) that it must be a shell of its former self at this point.
From the replacing of the original director (Mark Romanek) to the constant effects dilemma to the multiple release dates, this is easily one of the more high-profile “troubled” movies we’ve come across in some time. As the February 12th release date approaches, it’s any wonder what this monster will end up looking like. Perhaps it will all be for the better, but honestly, I can’t remember the last movie in THE WOLFMAN’s situation that actually turned out to be good.
I’m just waiting for another release date announcement….
