Wolverine 2 in 2012?

I never did see WOLVERINE, and based on the reviews, I’m pretty glad I didn’t spend money on it. While it didn’t get a complete bashing, it was mostly greeted with sighs and shrugs – which is sometimes worse than outright hate. Still, it made $363 million worldwide, and with more certain to come from DVD and Blu-Ray, it makes sense they’d continue the adventures of Logan. (They’re also making a Deadpool movie, as I’m sure you’ve read by now, which is somehow even less exciting.)

Last night at the (ugh) Teen Choice Awards, Hugh Jackman told the crowd, after the movie won Best Action Film and Jackman was awarded with a giant surfboard, “Who knows, maybe Wolverine will use one of these when he heads to Japan.”

Exciting, eh? The buff Aussie went on to elaborate for MTV: “Japan is where we’re heading, [and] we’re starting to work on it now. We’re in the … first steps of developing that story.”

As to when we might be seeing WOLVIE 2, Jackman hints at 2012: “If you look at the history [of the X-Men movies], it’s been every three years—three years exactly,” he teased. “So that might give you a good hint.”

Of course, according to the Mayans and Roland Emmerich, that’s the year we all die… Might be for the best. For more from Jackman, head on over to MTV.
