Wonder Woman’s Connie Nielsen gave Snyder’s Justice League her blessing

Connie Nielsen has returned as Queen Hippolyta for Wonder Woman 1984, but she'll leading the Amazon's once more in Zack Snyder's upcoming director's cut of Justice League. The four-part version of the film will bring Snyder's vision of Justice League to life and feature plenty of unseen footage, some newly filmed, and Nielsen recently spoke with THR about how Snyder contacted her to ask if she'd be okay with the new version.

I don’t know the timing of one or the other, but Zack had already called me to ask if I would be okay with a reissue of the film with changes. And I asked him, “Well, will you bring back the Amazon chapter the way you had written it and had filmed it?” And he said, “Absolutely.” And then I said, “And Zack, will you also bring back my quite incredible stunt, running up the walls?” And he said, “You got it.” (Laughs.) So I said, “Yeah, definitely. You’ve got my blessing. Absolutely.”

Nielsen added that she wasn't involved in any of the additional photography and didn't return to do any ADR for Zack Snyder's Justice League as all of her material had been filmed during the original production. "What was really sad was how much stuff we filmed that wasn’t in the film," Nielsen said. "And I think that’s part of what made Justice League less cohesive as a viewing experience. The intent was not the same during the editing as it was during shooting." Zack Snyder's Justice League is expected to debut on HBO Max early next year.

Wonder Woman 1984 is now playing in theaters, as well as streaming on HBO Max in the U.S., and although the pre-release reviews were quite positive, audiences don't seem quite as impressed with the sequel as they were with the first film.
