We’ve seen concept art and have used our imaginations to figure out what Tim Burton’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND will look like, and today, courtesy of USA Today, we can finally look at what Burton has created. That’s right, we now know what Johnny Depp (as the Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter (as the Red Queen), and Anne Hathaway (as the White Queen) will look like in the film!
The new character images are flippin’ weird as hell, confirming that this new WONDERLAND is gonna rock! Seriously what the hell is wrong with Depp? He really does look mad… the guy looks f*cking insane! And Carter? What the shit? Did they enlarge her head here, or simply raise that hairline of hers. Hathaway is the only quasi-normal looking one of the bunch, and even that’s a stretch as she’s totally white except for that black make-up of hers. All in all though, very flippin’ cool!
The article also shed some light to Burton’s vision of the story, as it appears this WONDERLAND will act as a sequel of sorts to the original story… check it out: The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.
Great idea! Knowing Burton, WONDERLAND will be a world of nightmares and trippy colors. This flick is gonna be awesome!
