Woody Allen’s latest gets a title change (again), plus first official images

First it was THE BOP DECAMERON, then it became NERO FIDDLED. Sony apparently felt that audiences for writer-director Woody Allen’s latest both here and abroad would collectively be all “WTF?” with both title choices.

So according to Variety, the studio has gotten Allen to change the film to the much simpler, easier to understand, and completely generic TO ROME WITH LOVE. The last title (NERO FIDDLED) was apparently discarded because overseas audiences “aren’t familiar with the expression.” The success of MIDNIGHT IN PARIS – a film that made about $150 million outside of North America – will do that.

Anyway, also new for the film are the first official images which you can check out below. If you haven’t been keeping up, the film “follows a number of people in Italy — some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors — and their romances, adventures and predicaments.”

TO ROME WITH LOVE – starring Woody Allen, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, and Ellen Page – will open in limited release on June 22nd.
