I’m talking about Philip K. Dick’s THE WORLD JONES MADE. According to SFF Media Gilliam recently let loose the good word that he’ll be adapting the science fiction novel. Philip K. Dick is a legend in the science fiction department. Some films that’ve been adapted from his work include TOTAL RECALL, BLADERUNNER and MINORITY REPORT among many others. So just the fact that Terry Gilliam will be adapting a Philip K. Dick novel is exciting… nevermind that it’s THE WORLD JONES MADE.
Here’s the full rundown for the novel: First released in 1956, it tells the story of Floyd Jones, a man with an unusual precognitive ability that lets him see a year into the future. In a post-apocalyptic dystopia devastated by nuclear war, a Federal World Government (Fedgov) enforces strict moral relativism: everyone can believe what they like, but cannot force their beliefs on anyone else. Floyd Jones goes from telling fortunes in a carnival to becoming a cult leader. Sounds like there’s a whole lot going on there but that’s just the way Gilliam likes it! A perfect setup for another mindblowing Gilliam movie!
Unfortunately the only news right now is that Gilliam is adapting the novel. No other word on production but we’ll be sure to keep you updated once we hear more!
