Would you go see a sequel to Independence Day with this title?

Unlike the sneak attack sprung on us by the aliens of INDEPENDENCE DAY, we’ve known that sequels (yes, sequels) were coming for a while now.  What we haven’t known was just what they would be called, which was tough for those fans of the first movie as it’s hard to get extremely excited at a party for “the untitled INDEPENDENCE DAY sequels.”

Well, it’s time to get excited.  The potential titles have been revealed, and you’re about to become the hit of the party.  Because the sequels are currently being called ID FOREVER – PART 1 and ID FOREVER – PART 2.  And even though Emmerich has no problem calling himself “a 3D skeptic,” both halves of the sequel are still going to be post converted into the money-making format.

Meanwhile, co-writer Dean Devlin revealed in a recent inteview with Total Film the element which he thinks was essential to capture in a new ID4: “The thing that really hit me about the movie is how much love there is in it: between the characters; that the filmmakers had making it; that the cast had for each other. As we’re approaching a sequel we’re focusing on that aspect of it. Because I think that was really the key as to why it worked for everyone. It was lovable.”

So there you have it – loveability.  If you read my opinion you know I disagre, but most of you also disagree with me, so that’s okay.  In other news, don’t forget that INDEPENDENCE DAY is being re-released in 3D on July 3rd, 2013.
