Special thanks to Scotty C. for sending us this news piece.
I haven’t seen the original KAIRO (aka PULSE) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, but from what I’ve heard, it makes RINGU (and it’s American counterpart, THE RING) look like a film about a chick on the rag. It’s damn scary.
The story, by the way, involves a group of friends chilling in Tokyo. After one of their friends commits suicide, strange things begin happening to the group. One of them sees visions of his dead friend in the shadows on the wall, while another’s computer keeps showing strange, ghostly images mixed with even stranger e-mails. In other words, watch the flick in the dark on your computer.
With the American remake of KAIRO on the way, it was nice to see the original still had something to say. If you point your browser here, you’re treated to the same website that was featured in the original film! If only my Flash skills were as good as this. At the end of said Flash animation, you can apparently send one of your buds an e-mail in the style of the ones from the film. Very cool.
The PULSE remake, starring Christina Milian, Kristen Bell, Tate Hanyok and Ian Somerhalder, and directed by Jim Sonzero, is set for a March 2006 release. Click the pic below if you’d like to see a ghost.
