If you were among the surprising few who saw GRINDHOUSE this past weekend, you were treated to those awesome fake trailers before and during the film. Among the trailers was Edgar Wright’s DON’T, which was probably the funniest of the bunch. Now comes news that Wright, writer and director of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, might just make DON’T into a feature length film. This isn’t the first we’ve heard of a director of those fake trailers wanting to make their trailer into an actual film, if you remember, not too long ago Robert Rodriguez was thinking about making his MACHETE into a feature length film (and I hope he does!).
Anyways, not much is known about DON’T since it was, for the most part, a big laugh bag full of killings. But Wright did have this to say: " If it was [turned] into a feature, it’d have to be like Dario Argento and SUSPIRIA. SUSPIRIA is I think one of the few films that feels like a dream you’ve had when you’ve had too much cheese. It’s just like the weirdest bad dream you’ve ever had. I love those films that have the nightmare logic and don’t really have any plots or story. It’s just like horrible bad dream after bad dream."
I wonder if he’ll keep the narrator constantly saying "Don’t!" throughout the film like it was in the trailer…I guess that’s probably doubtful. Meanwhile, Wright’s HOT FUZZ is looking like it’s going to split some sides with laughter, and I can’t wait!
