Vampire tales are a dime a dozen these days, so it’s really no surprise that New Line has hired a new writer to breathe life into one of their vampire flicks, DARKSIDERS.
They’ve hired Laeta Kalogridis to pen the rewrite, and considering her other writing gigs include PATHFINDER, Oliver Stone’s ALEXANDER, and currently has a draft of James Cameron’s BATTLE ANGEL in the works, I’d say it’s a good thing. She ain’t no spring chicken when it comes to the writing game, so maybe DARKSIDERS will have some life to it yet.
Currently the Sounds like it could be a winner… or a loser… hard to say at this point, but the potential for it to rock is definitely there. And considering the for vampire movies, I’m sure it could be made without rewrites, and it would still make money.
Once the script is finished, New Line will begin looking for directors. Names like Jonathan Hensleigh and David Goyer have been attached to direct in the past, but that doesn’t really mean much. One or both could still be interested, or neither could really care at this point. Time will tell, but since Goyer has since done
