It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news regarding Oren Peli’s AREA 51, the follow-up to the director’s debut hit PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Actually the last update we got on the feature came way back in November! So what’s been going on with this little diddy? Well if today’s update is any indication… things aren’t running too smoothly.
You see according to the guys over at ShockTillYouDrop some help is coming on board the project in the form of scibe Stephen Susco. Susco is no stranger to the genre, having penned THE GRUDGE, THE GRUDGE 2 and RED. Seeing writers/directors brought in this far into production is never a good sign, so what does this mean for AREA 51 and Oren Peli? Unfortuantely no solid details have been given but you guys are more than welcome to spit us your theories below!
Three curious teens are lead to the notorious Area 51 portion of Nellis Air Force Base in the Nevada desert.
The feature will take on the hand-held camera route that PARANORMAL ACTIVITY went and actually finished filming last year. You read that right, the flick is done filming! So where are the goods man? And why bring a writer on now? To be fair it’s possible Susco came on board the project a while ago and it’s only being announced now, but alas that’s only speculation.
Sure this news isn’t as solid as we would hope, but hey, at least it’s something! Hopefully we’re treated to more AREA 51 updates soon! As always be sure to keep it here for more on the project as we hear it.
