Writers join Damn Nation

Well here’s something you don’t see everyday: Paramount are planning on adapting a comic involving vampires for the big screen!

Oh wait… we do see that everyday. I’m not even going to bother getting into this latest trend of scooping up graphic novels for adaptation. Instead I’m going to get right into the brass tacks of this new project. The film is called DAMN NATION and will be based on the comic by Andrew Cosby and Jason Alexander, which is set in a U.S. evacuated after an attack from “inhuman nocturnal predators,” the comic tells the tale of the survivors after the government has been forced to relocate to London while scientists search for a solution.

That actually doesn’t sound very original at all. Anyone out there have the chance to check out DAMN NATION and want to back it up here? Because it seems we’re just getting a host of previous flicks put together with this one. 28 WEEKS LATER meets 30 DAYS OF NIGHT anyone? Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping I’m way off here and DAMN NATION ends up being something awesome. Then again don’t we hope for that from every film that’s announced? Of course we do…

The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news that Paramount has gone and hired the duo of Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz to pen the script for DAMN NATION. Michael Aguilar and Dean Georgaris are producing along with Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg. That’s all the details we’ve got for now but we’ll be keeping our eyes on DAMN NATION so be sure to keep it here for updates.
